Meet Rescued Sato Dogs Ready for Adoption

Sato Care Alliance Inc is a 100% Puerto Rican, nonprofit 501(c)(3) rescue organization, foster based, dedicated to rescuing forgotten satos across Puerto Rico. Rescues are prepare for responsible adoption, whether locally or in the States, ensuring each adoption is safe, ethical, and transparent. Likewise, a monthly low cost spay event is perform in a private clinic with a licensed veterinarian doctor.
Sato Care Alliance began with a dog named Scarlett now Sadie.
Scarlett had once been adopted from the municipal shelter in Carolina, Puerto Rico. But the family who took her home later abandoned her on the streets because "she became extremely anxious during fireworks".
Alone and frightened, Scarlett wandered the streets for days until she was hit by a car, leaving her unable to walk. She remained outside, exposed to rain, sun, and the elements until someone found her and brought her back to the same municipal shelter. There, the plan was to euthanize her.
Some advocated for her, asked the shelter to release Scarlett into our care. It wasn’t easy, but eventually they did. The first veterinarian we consulted also recommended euthanasia since he “did not have the patience to deal with it”. Still there was something in Scarlett’s eyes that said "give me a chance".
During the pandemic shutdown, while working from home, Scarlett began a long rehabilitation journey. With the guidance of a veterinarian physical therapist and chiropractor, we learned how to help her through daily therapy sessions, balance exercises, mobility work, and water therapy. Little by little, Scarlett began to walk again.
Today, Scarlett lives happily on a small farm in Massachusetts, surrounded by open fields, donkeys, and the love of her family. She shares her life with another rescue from our organization, Celeste, they are besties. Years later, Scarlett’s right front leg had to be amputated due to neurological damage from the accident. Still, Scarlett continues to run, play, and live joyfully on three legs.
Her courage changed everything.
Scarlett is the reason Sato Care Alliance exists.

Becoming a foster home is one of the most powerful ways to save a life. By opening your home temporarily, you provide safety, stability, and care to a Sato in need, giving them the chance to heal and prepare for a forever family. Fostering not only transforms their future, it makes space for us to rescue another Sato.
